Full Moon in Capricorn on July 3

On Monday, July 3, at 7:39 a.m., we will be experiencing a full moon in Capricorn here on the east coast of the U.S. Getting in tune with the phases of the moon is a great way to connect to the natural celestial energy that is available to you.  So, what’s the focus of this coming full moon and how can you tap into it?

A full moon is when the sun and the moon are on directly opposing sides of the earth.  The face of the moon is fully illuminated so that we can see its full face.  With the full moon in the sign of Capricorn, there may be a focus on duty, responsibility, and a drive to achieve through hard work.  You may be resonating with themes that were planted during the most recent new moon in Capricorn six months ago on December 23.  Think back to what was happening at that time and what ‘seeds’ you may have planted. A full moon is also an excellent time for releasing the energy of that which no longer serves us.

You can find rituals for celebrating full moons all over the internet.  As always, I recommend what resonates with you personally.  You can have private rituals full of meaning and introspection just for yourself, or you can join a group of like-minded people in your area for an evening of celebration.  It’s always all about the energy.  After a time, you may find that repeating your full-moon ritual consistently helps you to stay more grounded and centered into the flow of your life, which will in turn have a healing effect on mind, body, and spirit.

Here are a few of my favorite ways to get in sync with the Full Moon:

1 – Cleanse your crystals.  If you have a collection of crystals, full moons are ideal times to set them outside in the beautiful moonlight and ‘cleanse’ any negative energy they may have accumulated.

2 – Clean or purge a closet, drawer, or room.  Remember, from now until the next new moon on July 17 it will wane (get smaller) so it’s an easier time to let go of what no longer serves you.

3 – Make moon water.  Using distilled water, set it outside in a clear container in the moonlight.

4 - Candle magic – Focus on something you are working on manifesting in your life, choose a small chime candle in a color to represent your objective, and burn the candle while meditating on the flame.  Focus on letting go of any aspects of your work toward this goal that no longer serve you.

5 – Celebrate with friends.  Use music, dancing, drumming, good food and drink to celebrate the magical night.

If nothing else, make sure you get a chance to pop your head outside to see the gorgeous moon on July 3.  It’s always a breath-taking sight!
